Darren White is a career lawman with a proven track record for fighting crime and protecting our communities. As the former Sheriff of Bernalillo County and head of the New Mexico State Police, Darren has devoted his life to serving and protecting on the front lines of law enforcement. Albuquerque has been plagued by a relentless crime crisis for the past eight years, but Darren has the experience and leadership to turn things around.
Darren will unshackle the police department, giving officers the support and tools they need to enforce the law and clean up our streets. He will end Mayor Keller’s Sanctuary City law for criminals and fight to end Catch and Release.
Darren understands what it takes to combat crime, and as mayor, he will restore law and order to make Albuquerque safe again.
Unlike Mayor Keller, Darren White opposes homeless tent encampments and will address the homeless crisis with policies that work.
The Keller Administration has refused to address this dangerous situation, resulting in Albuquerque’s streets, parks, and public spaces being overrun by the growing homelessness crisis. Once places for families and children, our playgrounds have become battlegrounds of crime, open drug use, and chaos—some even forced to close because they are no longer safe. The situation has spiraled so far out of control that city workers are now being ordered to clean up human waste instead of focusing on the jobs they were hired to do. Darren White will put an end to this disaster.
As mayor, Darren will enforce the laws, clean up our streets, and ensure that our neighborhood parks, sidewalks, and storefronts are restored for our city’s hardworking families and business owners. He will be an active Mayor who is regularly engaged with residents and business owners, personally visiting and assessing the hardest-hit areas to ensure real solutions are being implemented.
Under Darren’s leadership, Albuquerque will have a mayor who is a true partner for businesses, working every day to support economic growth and job creation.
For too long, businesses have been overrun by crime and vandalism, struggling to survive under a city government that has failed to protect them. Rampant retail theft has forced stores to lock up their inventory, making it harder for customers to shop and causing sales to plummet. Many businesses, unable to cope with the losses, have been left with no choice but to close their doors—leaving entire neighborhoods without access to groceries, prescription drugs, and essential services.
White knows that a strong economy starts with safe streets. As mayor, he will restore law and order, cut through bureaucratic red tape, and create an environment where businesses can thrive and provide good-paying jobs for Albuquerque families.
Darren White is a fiscal conservative who believes city tax dollars should be focused on providing basic services, like police and fire protection and street maintenance and road improvements. He believes city leaders should be responsible stewards of taxpayer dollars.
Since Mayor Keller took office, government spending has exploded, increasing by approximately 47%, much of which is spent on wasteful and unnecessary programs. The mayor has created new executive positions and initiatives, including a Chief Sustainability Officer for Climate Change and a taxpayer-funded department to assist illegal immigrants. He is proposing to use tax dollars to provide “guaranteed income” to certain residents. The Office of the Inspector General recently determined that the Keller Administration misused federal pandemic funds to give bonuses to high-ranking city employees. While his Chief of Police drives a $90,000 fully equipped special edition Expedition after recklessly crashing into a citizen while violating city policy, Albuquerque residents and small businesses suffer from a lack of public safety, crumbling roads, and parks and community centers overrun by drugs and homeless.
Darren will cut the waste, fraud, and abuse and focus our tax dollars on providing quality basic services to Albuquerque residents.
I have a proven record of fighting crime, protecting our communities, and upholding law and order. I’ll unshackle the police, end Mayor Keller’s failed sanctuary policies, clean up homeless encampments, and restore safety to Albuquerque’s streets, parks, and businesses while cutting government waste and making our city a place where families and businesses can thrive again.
