Darren White Significantly Outraises the Field of Albuquerque Mayoral Candidates

With the first round of financial disclosure reports due to the Albuquerque City Clerk earlier this week on Monday, candidate Darren White reported the highest total contributions among the field of mayor candidates, disclosing $32,112 in donations. The amount raised by White is approximately double what incumbent Mayor Tim Keller reported for the same period.

White, who is pursuing public financing, has enjoyed a broad groundswell of grassroots support since announcing as a candidate for mayor, with 271 Albuquerque residents donating to the campaign, at an average individual contribution rate of $118.50 per person. Based on city law, publicly financed mayoral candidates may accept up to a maximum of $250 per Albuquerque resident.

“I’m extremely grateful for the hundreds of supporters who’ve donated to my campaign. Our strong financial showing demonstrates that Albuquerque residents are fed up with the ongoing crime and homelessness crisis during Mayor Keller’s watch, and they are demanding change,” stated candidate White.
