Darren White Announces for Mayor
Former Sheriff Says It’s Time for Change
ALBUQUERQUE: Former Sheriff Darren White announced his candidacy for Albuquerque Mayor today in a video released by his campaign.
White is a career lawman who served as an Albuquerque Police Officer, the Secretary of the Department of Public Safety, two-term Sheriff of Bernalillo County, and Director of Public Safety for the City of Albuquerque.
White is proud to have the endorsements of City Councilors Dan Lewis, Renee Grout and Dan Champine.
White is running for mayor because crime and homelessness areout of control and it’s time for big change.
“Mayor Keller has presided over the most murders in Albuquerque’s history,” said White.
“His weak approach to crime and homelessness has failed and it’s time for change.”
As mayor, White will give police officers the resources and support they need to restore order to our city. He will repeal Mayor Keller’s Sanctuary City law that allows illegal immigrants who commit crimes to be released back onto our streets.
Darren White’s announcement video starts with him walking through a massive tent city in Albuquerque located on First Street, highlighting just how out of control the homelessness problem has become in Albuquerque.
“The Supreme Court has given cities the authority to clean up these tent cities, but Mayor Keller has refused to do so. That will change when I am elected mayor,” said White.
White started several successful small businesses after his retirement, and the video provides numerous examples of how so many businesses around town have been forced to close due to the out-of-control crime and homelessness.
White says his campaign will pursue public financing and invites voters to visit his website for more information at www.DarrenWhiteForMayor.com.
